Nuclear Warhead

Press Conference NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg

NATO’s response to Russian plans to move nuclear warheads closer to the battlefield.

Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg says that Russia should not tamper with the nuclear balance of power. Then NATO will use all its power and capacity to show the alliance’s will to protect its member countries, writes Interfax.

It was during Tuesday’s foreign minister’s meeting in Brussels that Stoltenberg made a statement about Russia’s rhetoric and use of words recently, regarding its own nuclear weapons arsenal.

– Russia engages in dangerous rhetoric, Stoltenberg said according to the news agency.

He then pointed out to the journalists present:

– We will not be intimidated. We will continue to support Ukraine. Naturally, NATO is vigilant and we monitor very closely what Russia is doing, and so far we have not seen any changes in their nuclear arsenal that require a change in our approach, he said.

According to Stoltenberg’s calculations, the allies make up 50 percent of the world’s military power.

– As long as we stand together, protect each other and do so in a reliable way, there will be no military attack on the alliance, said Stoltenberg, in a statement directed at Russia.
