Former Belvoir FCU Chairman Alfred Rudolph Named to PenFed Board

PR Newswire

TYSONS, Va., Dec. 1, 2016 /PRNewswire/ — Representing Pentagon Federal Credit Union’s largest merger in history, former Belvoir Federal Credit Union Chairman Alfred Rudolph has been appointed to the PenFed Board of Directors.

Newly-appointed PenFed Director Alfred Rudolph

Rudolph served as a volunteer on the Belvoir Federal Credit Union Board for 10 years, including the last six years as Chairman.

Rudolph led the Belvoir FCU Board’s unanimous decision to pursue a merger with PenFed in order for members to earn higher rates on savings and access lower rates on loans. When the merger took effect on May 1, all 27,000 former Belvoir members’ accounts were transferred, and Belvoir’s $333 million in assets came under the care of PenFed.

Since the merger, Rudolph has been leading an Advisory Board dedicated to helping Belvoir’s former members take advantage of PenFed’s full array of products and services.

“Alfred was instrumental in helping us welcome Belvoir’s members and employees into the PenFed family,” said PenFed Board Chairman Ed Cody. “Alfred’s dedication to military service, his experience in logistics, and his relationships in the Belvoir community make him a perfect fit and a tremendous asset to the PenFed Board.”

In his full-time career, Rudolph is the Director of the Secretary of the Navy Executive Dining Facility at the Pentagon. He supports the Secretary of the Navy, the Chief of Naval Operations and the Commandant of the Marine Corps, along with their executive staff and visiting dignitaries.

Prior to this assignment, Rudolph was the General Manager at Fort Belvoir Officers’ Club and recipient of the prestigious James A. Carroll Award, recognizing excellence in managing the Department of the Army’s top-ranked Officers’ Club worldwide.

Rudolph’s tenure included managing Army Morale Welfare and Recreation military clubs, conference centers and food and beverage operations in the Federal Republic of Germany and the Republic of Korea. He also served as a Chief, Community Operations Branch, managing hospitality, recreation and community activities in Bayonne, New Jersey.

Rudolph has received the Department of the Navy Superior Civilian Service Award, two Department of the Army Civilian Achievement Medals, and the Commander Award for Civilian Service.

Rudolph is a graduate of the Army Management Staff College, Sustain Base Leadership and Management Program, and the Walt Disney Institute. He earned a Master of Arts degree in Management and Leadership. He is affiliated with several professional and community organizations including serving as Past President of the Military Evaluators Alumni Association. He has traveled as an evaluator to support the Department of the Army and Navy.

“Since its inception, the credit union movement remains relevant today,” said Rudolph. “As part of an integrated force multiplier, PenFed’s business platform is leading a path in helping others by providing support to the underserved. It is a business model that I believe in, and I look forward to working collectively with the management team and my fellow Board members.”

Rudolph replaces Lonnie Stith, who moved out of the national capital area and resigned after 11 years of service to the PenFed Board.

“Director Stith made significant contributions to both the PenFed Credit Union and the PenFed Foundation during his tenure,” said Chairman Cody. “Thanks to Lonnie’s leadership, support, and volunteer spirit, PenFed has grown significantly over the past 11 years. Lonnie’s contributions as Treasurer clearly had a major positive impact on that growth. In addition, Lonnie helped numerous military families as a Board member of the PenFed Foundation.”
