PPG Industries, Inc.’s PPG industrial coatings business has launched two-component polyester polyurethane enamel coatings − Spectracron 380 Poly-iothane HS (High-Solids) Series. These coatings provide superior resistance against corrosion when applied directly to metal or over primer-coated metal surfaces.
Spectracron 380 Poly-iothane HS coatings offer increased surface protection and durability in industrial and architectural environments. They are applicable for various uses, including hydraulic pumps, trucks and trailer frames, water and gas meters, agricultural and construction equipment, and metal framing assemblies for commercial rooftop heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (“HVAC”) units.
The coatings are also available in a wide range of glosses and standard and custom colors, including both metallic and clear-coat finishes that can resist exposure to chemicals, abrasion and impact. Moreover, the coatings can be applied with any traditional spray equipment, such as air, airless, air-assisted and electrostatic tools.
According to Scott Laney, PPG product manager, liquid coatings, the primary advantage of the Spectracron 380 Poly-iothane HS coatings is the versatile nature as they can be used over cleaned and blasted steel, or top-coated over surfaces that have not been sanded or abraded. The products can further be used as clear coats for protecting steel against oxidation before fabrication, thus eradicating the requirement for phosphates and other chemical cleaners as metal goes through milling, stamping and coating.
Shares of PPG Industries fell around 1% to close at $97.73 on Dec 14.
