Becker Professional Education, a subsidiary of DeVry Education Group Inc. DV has recently introduced 7 new certification programs for CPAs and other financial professionals. These programs will have topics including SEC, fraud, finance, management, government, business valuation and communication, all of which meet the standards set by the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA).
These programs are designed in a self-study format and can be completed in a year. On completion, the students will be awarded a Becker Certificate of Completion. Each program costs $199 and credit hours range from 7 to 18.5.
Introduction of the new programs will provide students with the most up-to-date academic content, and keep them apprised on various complex and challenging regulations.
Becker Professional Review is part of DeVry’s International and Professional Education segment. This segment has been doing quite well for the past few quarters. The segment also includes the operations of DeVry Brasil, which operates in the northeastern region of Brazil.
In fact, all of DeVry’s health care and international institutions – Chamberlain, Ross, Becker and DeVry Brasil – have shown significant improvement in revenues and profitability through fiscal 2013, 2014 and 2015. The company expands its international business through acquisitions as part of its long-term growth strategies.
Earlier this week, DeVry Brasil acquired 96.4% of the Brazilian education company, Grupo Ibmec Educacional S.A. (Ibmec) for R699 million. The acquisition is expected to strengthen DeVry’s presence in northern Brazil, where Ibmec already offers courses to about 15,000 students. The acquisition is expected to strengthen DeVry’s presence in the region.
