LOS ANGELES, Dec. 9, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — SGN (www.sgn.com), the fastest growing major U.S. mobile games studio, has acquired two new development studios. Following the hefty $130 million strategic investment from Netmarble this summer, the company acquired the veteran Seattle-based mobile studio, Fat Rascal Games, Inc., and the experienced studio talent from Kiwi Inc. in Palo Alto. SGN now has development studios in Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, Palo Alto, Seattle and Buenos Aires.

Fat Rascal has decades of experience in gaming across varied genres, having been a part of development teams at major studios like EA, Microsoft, PopCap and Zynga. The founding members of Fat Rascal have produced popular titles such as Zynga Slingo, Matrix Online, and Hidden Chronicles.

SGN’s new Palo Alto studio is now staffed with veteran Kiwi engineers, artists, designers and producers renowned for building a diverse portfolio of highly-entertaining and profitable titles. The team includes game leads behind chart-topping games like Shipwreck, Chefville, Deep Realms, Gardens of Time, and City of Wonder. This talented group created five top-25 grossing Android titles in the last four years.

“Fat Rascal and Kiwi are two of the best independent studios I’ve seen in the market today, collectively being involved in some of the biggest social/mobile games in the industry, said Chris DeWolfe, CEO and co-founder of SGN. “It’s an exciting time for us as we continue to deploy fresh capital and acquire the brightest game talent to expand our development capabilities globally.”

The teams from Fat Rascal and Kiwi will bring expertise in new genres and mechanics, complementing SGN’s successful casual games portfolio. SGN’s titles have had over 500 million downloads, and its leading game Cookie Jam was named Facebook’s Game of the Year.
