NEW YORK, Nov. 30, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — Kaplan, creator of the test prep industry and its leading player, has acquired CleanEdison, a leading vocational school as a service platform specializing in the clean energy industry. The new unit, rebranded as Kaplan Clean Technology Education, offers job skills training and certification programs focused on energy efficiency, sustainable building, the solar thermal and photovoltaic sectors, and other clean energy related issues.
Founded in February 2009, CleanEdison pioneered the model of blending hands-on vocational training with online learning, and has graduated more than 20,000 students. “Being a part of the Kaplan family will further our mission to provide a world class, immersive education.” said Avi Yashchin, the founder and CEO of CleanEdison.
Kaplan agreed to acquire CleanEdison in late 2014, working with its senior management team over the past year to integrate the businesses. CleanEdison provided their branded School-As-a-Service product to universities and institutions around the country. Kaplan Clean Tech Education offers courses in Environmental Design, Residential Energy Auditing, Residential and Commercial Solar Installation, Small Wind and Renewable Energy, among other subjects.
