CBS to Attract Viewers with Star Trek Reboot Series in 2017

Media giant, CBS Corporation CBS has great news for “Star Trek” fans. The company announced that it will be launching a brand new “Star Trek” television series in Jan 2017. People will again be able to enjoy the Vulcan salute, more famously known as the “Spock Salute.”

The company stated that the Star Trek series will be launched on the CBS Television Network after a special broadcast preview. Further, the company disclosed that the debut and all following first-run episodes will run exclusively on the network’s subscription video-on-demand service, CBS All Access, for the U.S. audiences. The company will charge a total of $5.99 per month for both the CBS Television station and access to its video-on-demand service.

Marc DeBevoise, executive vice president and general manager for CBS Digital Media, said that the company has an incredible opportunity to accelerate the growth of CBS All Access with the iconic Star Trek, which has a devoted and passionate fan base.

The new Star Trek series will have new characters who will be exploring artistic new worlds and new civilizations. We note that this new series will be produced by Alex Kurtzman himself, who co-wrote the 2009 film “Star Trek” and it successor, “Star Trek Into Darkness,” in 2013.

The show will be launched on the heels of Star Trek’s 50th anniversary celebration in 2016. The original Star Trek series was premiered on Sep 8, 1966, and ran for three seasons.

We are encouraged by this recent development of the company and expect this endeavor to boost revenues once the new “Star Trek” series commences.
