Helen of Troy Limited HELE is geared to bolster its presence in the health and wellness business through product innovation.
The consumer product company’s brand Vicks recently stepped into the connected health space with the launch of Vicks SmartTemp wireless smartphone thermometer. This is the first Bluetooth thermometer from Vicks which has been offering cold and flu relief for a century.
The Vicks SmartTemp, available at pharmacy and baby retailers nationwide since last month for $24.99, makes it easier to track multiple kids' temperatures with a companion app available for Android and Apple devices. Temperature readings and symptom notes can be easily sent via email to a family doctor or school nurse.
Helen of Troy took over the Vicks business in Dec 2010 from Kaz Inc. Kaz used to market its products to leading retailers under a variety of brand names, including Vicks and Braun, under license from The Procter & Gamble Company PG. Last April, Helen of Troy acquired the Vicks VapoSteam liquid inhalant business from P&G.
Helen of Troy also acquired trademarks of Vicks VapoPad scent pads in the U.S. Vicks VapoSteam and Vicks VapoPads are used in Vicks humidifiers, vaporizers and health care devices.
Apart from P&G, this Zacks Rank #2 (Buy) company has entered into several strategic relationships with consumer product giants in the past like Unilever plc UL and Revlon, Inc. REV.
