Google Services Hit by Outage on Friday for a Few Hours

On Friday, around 11:45 a.m. Eastern Time, Alphabet Inc.’s GOOGL main cloud software services faced an outage for a few hours due to some technological issues. The interruption was acknowledged by the company on its Docs page.

Basically, Google Drive suffered a short disruption, which affected apps including the spreadsheet tools, Docs, Sheets, Slides and also the presentation tool, Classroom. However the problem was resolved within the next three hours with an affirmation tweet from the company.

Users complained that they couldn’t access the services and received error messages caused by the service disruption. In typical style, they took to the social media to vent their frustration.

Google said that the outage was due to a new code, which behaved differently in extensive use than it had during testing.

Users depend on these cloud-based platforms for business related work as these enable users to write, edit and share documents in real time. Also, it allows them to create text documents, slideshows and spreadsheets, store and analyze data among other functions. The disruption in their work caused by the outage must have been definitely annoying.

Google isn’t the only company that tested the patience of Internet users. Recently, Facebook FB also faced a string of outages much to users’ annoyance.
