Software developer Microsoft Corporation MSFT recently rolled out new productivity apps for Apple’s AAPL Watch. The Apple Watch will now have Microsoft Translator and Outlook email apps.
So with Translator, users will now be able to view instant translations in 50 different languages. The all new Outlook app will provide a superior experience in terms of searching, reading, archiving, replying, deleting, flagging and scheduling emails. And the best part is, users can do all this from their watch face without having to take out their smartphones.
The Outlook
The new version of Outlook for Apple Watch will make it easier for users to easily glance through their inbox from the display, access pre-written replies and emoji, dictate replies, get custom notifications, schedule items for later use, and do much more. Even though Apple Watch has its own mail client, the Outlook app has always been loved by users and preferred over other email apps.
Its popularity can be attributed to enhanced features including support for attachments from cloud services, quick filters, calendar incorporations for easily scheduling of meetings, a “focused” inbox, a range of Mailbox-like swipe gestures for triage, custom notifications, and more. Its notifications display more of the email’s content than those from Apple’s client.
Also the app works with Gmail, iCloud, Yahoo Mail, Outlook.com, Office 365 and Microsoft Exchange.
Translator
Microsoft Translator is a cloud based automatic translation service. The app has a simple layout and all users have to do is speak into their Apple Watch and the app will translate it to 50 different languages including Spanish, German, French, Urdu, Hungarian and Greek. The translator can also help the user with the pronunciation of the translated version. The app also helps you bookmark translations to be used later and saves most commonly used translations and recently used phrases for quicker access.
Conclusion
Today, mobile apps have become the official route to drive content and services to customers. So both the consumer and enterprise markets are significant users of apps.
Wearables on the other hand are promising devices that offer important, personal notifications and keep one updated on the go—through simple, natural and short interactions. These context-aware devices operating as work buddies, health advisors and even intelligent associates are gradually gaining popularity.
So, given the opportunity, Microsoft is trying to go beyond its Windows ecosystem and has been focusing on productivity apps and getting them on major platforms.
