ATLANTA, July 1, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — Preferred Apartment Communities, Inc. (NYSE MKT: APTS) (“PAC” or the “Company”) today announced the acquisition of a 140,218 square foot grocery-anchored necessity retail shopping center anchored by a Tom Thumb grocery store in the Dallas suburb of Plano, Texas.

PAC acquired this asset through its wholly-owned subsidiary New Market Properties, LLC. Joel T. Murphy, President and Chief Executive Officer of New Market Properties, LLC, said, “We are delighted to make our second grocery-anchored retail acquisition in Texas, and our first in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. We believe this center is well-positioned in the demographically attractive Plano submarket and we are excited to add Tom Thumb to our portfolio of market dominant grocers.” This acquisition was acquired for all cash. The Company plans to refinance this asset with a first mortgage loan in the next 60 days.
