TE Connectivity Promises Major Benefits for FTTH Deployments

Zacks

Billion-dollar global technology giant TE Connectivity TE promises gigabyte level speeds for fiber to the home (“FTTH”) networks by showcasing latest innovations at the 2015 FTTH Connect conference in Anaheim, CA. Firstly, the firm is all set to showcase a breakthrough line of fiber distribution hubs; and secondly, it will introduce its fiber indexing architecture to hasten the pace of fiber construction at the 2015 FTTH Connect.

The FTTH 2015 Innovations

Cheering its investors, the company recently came up with plans to unveil 3 distinct fiber technologies in the event, namely, hardened connectivity, fiber distribution solutions, and FTTH architecture. In particular, the company is unveiling its new sealed fiber distribution hub (“FDH”) 4000 that offers a host of benefits, along with upgrading its existing FDH 3000 solution.

Major improvements in FDH 4000 include high-density fiber connectivity and advanced weatherproof protection to address the problem of increasingly restrictive permitting ordinances. Powered by 144 distribution, 9 splitter and 72 pass-through ports, this distribution hub is capable of installation in any location, can overcome space challenges, and enhance aesthetic and security requirements. Apart from this, the hub’s flexible, modular design, and weather-proof features will facilitate robust performance even in harsh weather conditions, which will likely make it a technician’s delight.

Encouragingly, the company plans to expand the splitter capacity of FDH 3000 to 48 splitter slots that will allow engineers more options while deploying high-bandwidth services over FTTH networks. The upgrade of FDH 3000 also involves infusing agility in mounting, including pole and pad mount applications.

Apart from this, the company also plans to ramp up FTTH deployments by introducing a fiber-indexing architecture that reduces use of fiber cable by 70% and improves engineering and inventory management requirements. TE Connectivity's engineers have diligently used standardized building blocks to create a robust plug-and-play network that will render deployment seamless.

An outstanding technology called “cascaded and daisy-chained topology” separates fiber indexing architecture from peers, marking a colossal improvement over the traditional star topology currently used in FTTH distribution networks. Leveraging the competence of multi-fiber optical connectors, the latest architecture makes expensive fiber splicing redundant, thereby reducing labor usage and construction costs.

Apart from showcasing its latest innovations, the 2015 FTTH Connect reflects TE Connectivity’s commitment to strengthen global connectivity. Armed with a profound knowledge about the current market scenario, the company believes that regulatory restrictions are increasingly crippling the ability of service providers to come up with adequate bandwidths to satiate customers. Also, meeting the commitment of “time to market” is a challenging aspect for service providers, due to intricate splicing jobs that increase cost of deployments.

To Conclude

Mirroring management’s sentiments, we believe TE Connectivity’s expertise in manufacturing fiber connect solutions is almost unparalleled, and the current market condition presents lucrative opportunities for the latest technologies to gain rapid market traction.

TE Connectivity currently has a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold). Better-ranked stocks in the industry include Mobileye N.V. MBLY, Multi-Fineline Electronix, Inc. MFLX and LightPath Technologies, Inc. LPTH. All three stocks sport a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy).
