Farmland Partners Inc. Announces Agreement for Acquisition of Blueberry Farm in Michigan

PR Newswire

DENVER, June 29, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — Farmland Partners Inc. (NYSEMKT: FPI) (the “Company”) today announced that it has entered into a purchase agreement to acquire a blueberry farm in Michigan comprised of approximately 125 acres for a purchase price of $1.2 million in cash. The acquisition is expected to close in the third quarter of this year, subject to customary closing conditions. In the first full year of the Company’s ownership, this farm is expected to have an annual rental income of 8% to 10% of the purchase price. This acquisition is the first permanent crop farm the Company has acquired. The Company currently owns two other farms with substantial annual specialty vegetable crop production.

“Having built a 70,000-acres plus portfolio of row crop farms in 10 states, we are comfortable gradually adding higher return and higher risk specialty crop properties, which, when blended into our portfolio, should enhance returns without materially increasing volatility,” said Paul Pittman, CEO of the Company.
