Dunkin' Brands Group, Inc.DNKN and Keurig Green Mountain Inc. GMCR have further strengthened their partnership that was announced in Feb 2015. Dunkin Brands revealed that its K-Cup pods have been made available online since Apr 2. The Dunkin’ Brands’ K-pods comes in 12-count boxes and consumers can choose from five varieties of Original Blend, Dark Roast, French Vanilla, Hazelnut and Dunkin' Decaf.
These will be available for sale on the official websites of Keurig Green Mountain and The J.M. Smucker Company SJM beginning this summer.
This announcement is part of the renewed multi-year partnership between Dunkin' Brands, Keurig Green Mountain and J.M. Smucker inked in Feb 2015 to manufacture, market, distribute and sell Dunkin' K-Cup pods at retailers in the U.S. and Canada, as well as online.
Under the expanded agreement, Keurig Green Mountain retained the exclusive right to manufacture five varieties of signature Dunkin Brands coffee in K-Cups. Keurig will have the right to distribute Dunkin' K-Cup packs only to specialty stores like Bed Bath & Beyond Inc. BBY, Kohl's Corporation and Macy's Inc., as well as office supply retailers such as Staples and Office Depot beginning this summer.
J.M. Smucker, on the other hand, will distribute and sell Dunkin' K-Cup packs to grocery chains, mass merchandisers, club stores, drug stores, dollar stores and home improvement stores. Earlier, J.M. Smucker manufactured and distributed Dunkin'-branded premium bagged coffee to groceries under a licensing agreement from Dunkin' Donuts. Dunkin-branded K-Cup packs will continue to be available in Dunkin Donuts restaurants in the U.S.
Keurig Green Mountain produces coffee, tea and other hot beverages which are sold in K-Cup and Vue portion packs. These packs can be used on single-serve Keurig brewers for making hot beverages.
The expanded partnership is expected to benefit Dunkin’ Brands as it will boost the sales of its coffee brands when it comes with the convenience of Keurig brewers. The company carries a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold).
