FleishmanHillard, a part of advertising giant Omnicom Group Inc. OMC, and its Washington-based Vox Global unit have launched a practice focused on privacy and cybersecurity amid a flurry of high-profile hackings and increasingly sophisticated cyber crime.
The FH global practice, housed within the agency’s crisis management unit, will assist clients in overcoming data security and privacy challenges.
The objective of the practice is to offer clients a comprehensive, holistic service to address data-specific challenges in areas including data breach preparedness and response; employee awareness and engagement; privacy protection communications and advocacy; and public affairs regulatory and legislative counsel.
The practice will leverage the skill of FleishmanHillard's top experts in cyber preparedness, privacy, regulatory and legislative affairs, crisis, and employee engagement. Also, it will capitalize on the agency’s partnerships with world-renowned experts in other disciplines, developed over the years in cybersecurity projects and data breach management.
Various cybersecurity and investigations firms, cyber law firms, and cyber insurance underwriters with whom FleishmanHillard has links, will provide external support to the practice. For example, last year, FleishmanHillard collaborated with risk-management firm Kroll for cybersecurity and data-breach-risk mitigation.
The practice holds relevance for clients across a broad range of industries, including education, healthcare, retail, and financial services.
The launch follows a spate of data breaches in recent months, with the latest victims being health insurers Anthem, Inc. ANTM and Premera Blue Cross. Only last year, major companies including Sony Corporation SNE, JPMorgan Chase & Co. JPM, Target and HomeDepot suffered high-profile cyber attacks.
Businesses and policymakers are facing unprecedented threats from hackers and cyber terrorism. In this backdrop, FleishmanHillard’s initiative will assist clients in safeguarding their data, managing their brand reputation and navigating public policy.
