DuPont DD announced that DuPont Industrial Biosciences has been conferred with the 2015 Bio Business Award for Breakthrough Bio-Based Technology Platform at the World Bio Markets Conference awards ceremony in Amsterdam. The company was honored for DuPont Sorona biopolymer.
DuPont’s Sorona has made it possible for textile designers, mills and manufacturers to produce sustainable products that suit consumer preference. The fiber contains 37% renewable plant-based ingredients and utilizes 30% less energy while releasing 63% fewer greenhouse gas emissions compared to conventional nylon 6. Sorona provides multiple benefits across the value chain. It enables renewably sourced monomer production and also helps in lowering dyeing temperatures for easy care.
Sorona has also set new standards for the textiles industry by providing soft stain-resistant carpets. In the apparels segment, the fiber makes soft and colorful sarees in chiffon, georgette, satin and crepe materials that competes with the feel of silk. This was demonstrated when DuPont partnered with Vipul Sarees — a leader in the Indian saree market.

Recently, DuPont Protection Technologies and MCR Safety announced the launch of a new cut-resistant glove – Memphis Orange – with Kevlar. The thinner and more flexible glove provides high level of cut protection. It also offers greater visibility for superior level of safety awareness.
MCR Safety is promoting its products with DuPont technology under the new Dare Bigger brand platform. The glove uses patented DuPont Kevlar engineered yarns allowing MCR Safety to utilize a technology which provides greater performance in terms of cut-resistance and handiness.
