DuPont (DD), MCR Safety Launch New Kevlar Glove

DuPont’s (DD) unit, DuPont Protection Technologies, and MCR Safety announced the launch of a new cut-resistant glove – Memphis Orange – with Kevlar. The thinner and more flexible glove provides high level of cut protection. It also offers greater visibility for superior level of safety awareness.

MCR Safety is promoting its products with DuPont technology under the new Dare Bigger brand platform. The glove uses patented DuPont Kevlar engineered yarns allowing MCR Safety to utilize a technology which provides greater performance in terms of cut-resistance and handiness.

Kevlar can be used in everything from fire fighter and industrial protective clothing to vehicles, fiber optic cables, mining belts, commercial aircraft and city roads, and in many consumer products such as mobile phones, tires, and sporting apparel and equipment. The product is of use where performance and safety are in question.

MCR Safety will offer free samples of this new glove to qualifying customers for a limited time. The participating customers must have a minimum of 50 employees wearing cut protection and be prepared to complete a product evaluation form within 30 days. The program will be effective from Mar 16 until supplies last. Upon receipt of the product evaluation form, participants will receive a safety "shake" kit.

DuPont's shares gained around 0.6% to close at $77.90 on Tuesday. The stock is up around 23% over a year.

DuPont saw its profits jump in the fourth quarter of 2014, aided by strategic measures including portfolio optimization, productivity improvements and cost-savings from operational redesign initiatives. The company saw higher volumes and margins across most of its reporting segments in the quarter amid a challenging operating backdrop, including continued weakness in agriculture economy and headwinds from a stronger dollar.

DuPont currently holds a Zacks Rank #4 (Sell).

Better-ranked stocks in the chemical space include Asahi Kasei Corp. (AHKSY), Innospec Inc. (IOSP) and Air Products and Chemical Inc. (APD). While Asahi Kasei and Innospec sport a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy), Air Products carries a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy).
