Harris Wins Contract for Vehicle Communication Systems

Zacks

Leading supplier of communications equipment and services, Harris Corporation (HRS), has received an order from the Air National Guard (ANG) to provide essential ground-to-air communications solutions during war and natural calamities, as well as for household crisis.

The five-channel vehicle communication systems leverage Harris’ expertise in wideband tactical radios and systems integration abilities to make available vital information across the operational region. It would thus facilitate better synchronization and alliance between ANG and the local authorities by providing them enhanced command, control and situational awareness.

The system is based on Harris’ combat-proven Falcon III AN/PRC-117G multiband manpack radios, its RF-7800I advanced vehicle intercom system, as well as a Unity XG-100M full-spectrum multiband mobile radio. Interestingly, the AN/PRC-117G manpack radios provides wideband tactical networking capabilities, thereby enabling operators to send and receive tactical voice, video and data. In addition, it also provides users with a broad suite of interoperable waveforms.

Notably, the system highlights Harris’ unique ability in delivering integrated tactical and land mobile radio communication systems. Moreover, Harris will also offer installation, guidance, and constant service and support. The financial terms of the contract were however not disclosed.

We believe Harris' RF Communications segment is rapidly gaining momentum in the international markets and this trend is likely to continue as Harris’ next-generation Falcon III tactical radio is receiving increasing market traction. Recently, Harris has won a number of major contracts for supplying its Falcon III wideband tactical radios. Therefore, such continuous and valuable contract wins should boost Harris’ top and bottom lines higher in the near term.

Currently, Harris carries a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold).
