Zep, Inc. (ZEP) in Focus: Stock Falls 6.4% – Tale of the Tape

Zacks

Zep, Inc. (ZEP) saw a big move last session, as the company’s shares fell by over 6 % on the day. The move came on pretty good volume too with far more shares changing hands than in a normal session. This continues the recent trend of the company, as the stock is now trading within the volatile price range of $13.9 to $16.0 in the past one-month time frame.

On Jan 6, the company announced its first-quarter fiscal 2015 results, with record revenues that grew at 2.1% year over year. But adjusted earnings per share fell short of expectations, as it lagged the Zacks Consensus Estimate by 6.7%.

This Chemical company has seen a flat track record when it comes to current year estimate revisions, as there has been no revision on either side over the past few weeks. The consensus for earnings estimate hasn’t been in a trend either. This recent price action is discouraging, so make sure to keep a close watch on this firm in the near future, and especially on earnings estimates following the recent slump.

ZEP currently has a Zacks Rank #4 (Sell).

A better-ranked stock in the Specialty Chemical industry is NL Industries Inc. (NL) which holds a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy).
