Wireless service provider United States Cellular Corp. (USM) – a subsidiary of Telephone and Data Systems Inc. (TDS) – has announced that Samsung's latest smartphone, the Galaxy Note Edge, will now be available with the carrier effective Jan 7, 2015.
Notably, this is Samsung's first smartphone with a curved Edge display and will be offered by U.S. Cellular, both online and in stores. All qualified customers will be able to include it in their Shared Connect plan and obtain it for zero upfront payment using U.S. Cellular's equipment installment option.
Under this option, customers will have to pay tax on the Galaxy Note Edge at the point of sale, and then make 20 monthly payments that will be handily added to their wireless bill. The phone will also be available at a price of $399 with a two-year contract with the carrier. Moreover, customers can upgrade this device in 12 months by trading it in for an updated model, and decide to pay off the entire balance of their device whenever they wish for.
The Galaxy Note Edge smartphone will significantly augment the wireless experience for users. To complement this feature, U.S. Cellular will provide Galaxy Note Edge users national coverage and a high-quality network.
The Galaxy Note Edge is based on Android’s 4.4 KitKat platform powered with Samsung's 2.7 GHz quad-core processor. It also features a 16-megapixel rear-facing and a 3.7 megapixel front-facing camera. The device also includes a 5.6 inch Quad HD Super AMOLED touchscreen which offers easy viewing of websites, video, crystal clear pictures and videos.
Moreover, the Galaxy Note Edge is equipped with all the highly developed features of the new Galaxy Note 4, complete with a specific S Pen with mouse-like functionality, Samsung's Multi Window feature for smooth multitasking, and Adaptive Fast Charging which offers the fastest charging facility compared to any other Samsung phone.
Interestingly, the company will be the fourth carrier to offer the Galaxy Note Edge. The device is already available with AT&T, Inc. (T), T-Mobile US, Inc. (TMUS) and Sprint Corporation (S).
