Humana Inc. (HUM) has entered into an accountable care relationship with Valence Health, one of the major providers of clinical integration, population health and value-based care solutions. The aim of this collaboration is to assist healthcare provider organizations in opting for Medicare Advantage (MA) value-based arrangements.
Providers will now be able to avail a wide array of population health capabilities and tools that will enable an easy transition to value-based care from fee-for-service care. For this, Valence Health will offer its expertise, provider organization clients and provide end-to-end services as well as software and analytics services. As a result, clients’ performances will improve.
The main purpose of ACOs is to bring together payment and care delivery models in order to ensure quality healthcare at affordable prices. Entities under an ACO agreement are liable for the quality, cost and care of Medicare beneficiaries. The above-mentioned agreement satisfies all the requirements of an ACO and is the latest addition to Humana’s 26-year long history of accountable care relationship.
Humana has actively engaged itself in ACOs, with the sole motive of delivering superior yet affordable healthcare. Over the last 30 days, Humana has engaged itself in four value-based ACOs. These include collaborations with Via Christi Health, Key Medical Group and Kaweah Delta Health Care District, MDX Hawai‘I as well as Greater Newport Physicians and Edinger Medical Group.
Humana currently carries a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold). Better-ranked stocks in the health maintenance organization space include WellPoint, Inc. (WLP), UnitedHealth Group Incorporated (UNH) and Centene Corp. (CNC). All of these have a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy).
