PR Newswire

NEW YORK, Oct. 15, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — Creative Mobile Technologies, LLC (CMT), the leading taxi technology provider in the United States, has announced its consolidation with Mobile Knowledge Systems, Inc., the leading for-hire-vehicle technology provider in Canada. Under the deal, the 35-year-old Canadian-based for-hire-vehicle dispatch and technology pioneer will continue to oversee support for its customers as part of the CMT corporate network, which includes media, investment, and international subsidiaries.

CMT and Mobile Knowledge have been strategic partners since 2005 when the two companies united to provide New York City with groundbreaking and comprehensive taxi technology solutions for the first time in the City’s history. Since then, the companies have continued to work together while expanding their respective operations across North America and Europe. Following the consolidation announced today, the combined company will have operations in over 150 cities and 10 countries throughout the world and will make CMT the largest integrated taxi technology solution provider worldwide.

Mobile Knowledge veteran, Kevin French, will play an active role in the newly consolidated company. Mr. French will become the Managing Director of CMT and will retain his title as President of Mobile Knowledge, reporting to Vice Chairman and Chief Operating Officer Jason M. Poliner and Ron Sherman, Chairman, CEO and Founder of CMT.

“This is an exciting time to be in the taxi business,” said Mr. Sherman, a leader in the taxi industry for more than 30 years. “When I started CMT in 2005, we set out to prove that the taxi business could be as advanced as any business out there, and nearly ten years later, taxis with CMT technology are providing the riding public with quick and secure credit card payments, state-of-the-art media screens, GPS-fueled consumer services and sophisticated data collection for fleets and governments.

Mr. Sherman continued, “Mobile Knowledge, our strategic partner from the start, has played a critical role in CMT’s success. Under this consolidation of talents under one roof, CMT will be able to fully tap the enormous technological expertise and tremendous customer reach that Mobile Knowledge has provided its customers for decades. By combining our teams, I am confident that we will be able to continue to lead the field and expand CMT’s “for the industry, by the industry” approach to cutting edge technology in taxis and for-hire-vehicles throughout the world.”

Kevin French, the new Managing Director of CMT who has served as President of Mobile Knowledge since 2009 and pioneered critical developments in for-hire dispatch over the course of 30 years, said, “Mobile Knowledge and CMT have been a great fit since the beginning. I have been deeply impressed by the values of its founder and leadership team and believe this company has the vision for smart and limitless growth in the taxi and for-hire-vehicle market worldwide. The excellent team of top Mobile Knowledge managers, technologists and salespersons that have been working with our customers for many years will continue to work with those customers while allowing for that excellence to lift the entire CMT operation toward new innovative heights. I am thrilled to be a part of the CMT team and know that we will achieve even greater things in the future.”

While CMT’s customers are largely taxi companies throughout the country, Mobile Knowledge’s customer base also includes corporate car services and livery services throughout North America. Mobile Knowledge will retain its brand and corporate identity as part of the transaction and will similarly continue to oversee and maintain its close support and sales relationships with its customers, with additional support and benefits available to it under the CMT corporate network. Mobile Knowledge and its subsidiaries will maintain their respective operations and research and development (R&D) in Canada.

This transaction will result in a combined business operation that comprises the most experienced and largest combined network of taxi and for-hire-vehicle fleets with integrated technology in the world.

This announcement arrives at the start of the important Taxi, Limousine and Paratransit Association (TLPA) conference in San Antonio, Texas.
