Keeping pace with its continued efforts to digitalize products, 3M Company (MMM) launched the Post-it Plus App, a new tool that allows users to instantly capture Post-it Note collaboration sessions and digitize them.
The innovative tool digitizes the output of Post-it Note collaboration sessions and the software creates a flexible documentation of the session, wherein the notes are stored in a customizable format.
The Post-it Plus App generates a record of shareable notes that can be exported to software programs such as PowerPoint, Excel, Dropbox, PDF and more. The app will allow groups to reduce transcription time, share, manage and refine ideas quickly and add to the discussion anytime from anywhere.
The Post-it Plus App is available for free download from the Apple Inc.’s (AAPL) App Store on iOS 8 devices including iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.
The new tool is part of a continuous evolution and crossover in the physical and digital space. Last year, 3M launched a smartphone app in partnership with digital organizer Evernote, which allows users to digitize and upload photos of the notes to Evernote's system. The software can extricate the handwriting from the post-it notes, file them into particular notebooks and allocate reminders to them.
Post-it Note sales represent a big part of 3M's steadily growing consumer and office products division. The app will help the conglomerate to keep the notes relevant to the smartphone-glued generation.
