Motorola Solutions to Help Hunters with 2-Way Walky Talky

The hunting season is about to kick start with Motorola Solutions Inc.’s (MSI) recently-launched Talkabout MU350R, a two-way radio with better sound clarity and longer battery life.

MU350R is a weatherproof wireless device that can be paired with a Bluetooth headset. It also features a LED flashlight, a dual watch receiver along with an emergency alert button. Moreover, it supports 22 channels inclusive of seven National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration channels offering local and regional weather updates.

The walky-talky – priced at $149.99 a pair – comes along with two radios and belt clips, one wall charging adapter with y-cable, two 1300 mAH NiMH rechargeable battery packs and an emergency checklist sheet. Meanwhile, the 1693 Bluetooth push-to-talk button will cost $129.99, which includes a PTT pod, a mini-USB charging adaptor and a user guide.

A few months back, Motorola Solutions launched its fifth generation shopping wireless device – MC18 – that offers an advanced self-scanning facility to shoppers. The app scans faster and more accurately than Google Inc.’s (GOOG) Android and Apple Inc.’s (AAPL) iOS based smartphones.

Earlier, Motorola Solutions had teamed up with 3M Company (MMM) to distribute headsets from the 3M Peltor Heavy-Duty Headset portfolio. The company had also announced plans to vend its struggling Enterprise Business segment to Zebra Technologies for $3.5 billion in cash.

Meanwhile, in the second quarter of 2014, Motorola Solutions reported disappointing financial results wherein both its top and bottom line missed the corresponding Zacks Consensus Estimate. Hence, we believe that the launch of such value-added services coupled with divestment of non-profitable units will drive revenues and margins for the company.
