AT&T to Launch LG G3 Vigor and Samsung Galaxy Alpha

Zacks

While Apple Inc.’s (AAPL) iPhone6 continues to make a rage, AT&T Inc. (T) plans to woo its customers further with the upcoming launches of LG G3 Vigor and Samsung Galaxy Alpha.

We believe these latest releases will enable the company to keep up with the pace in the smartphone market while also enhancing value for customers who prefer to remain as Android loyalists.

AT&T reported that it will launch LG G3 Vigor on Sep 26 following which customers can avail the product on zero upfront payment. Customers can also avail a $100 credit on subscribing to a new connection with AT&T Next.

Moreover, customers can buy the LG G3 Vigor under any of the four options introduced by AT&T: for $334.99 with no contract; for $13.96 per month with Next 18; for $16.75 a month with Next 12 or for a price of $49.99 with a fresh two-year contract.

Like most of AT&T’s latest smartphone offerings, LG G3 Vigor will also support LTE network, which covers over 300 million U.S. population.

Going by the reports, it is quite likely that AT&T will also unveil the Samsung Galaxy Alpha phone on Sep 26. This new premium smartphone that uses Google Inc.’s (GOOG) Android operating system is expected to cost around $200 on a contract, or $613 with no contract.

AT&T is looking at opportunities to improve its growth profile and retain competitiveness against rivals like Verizon Communications Inc. (VZ) through a number of strategic initiatives. Last year, the company began selling AT&T Next that offers customers with early upgrades to smartphones and tablets every 12 or 18 months without paying any down payment, activation charge, upgrade cost or financing fee. The company’s Mobile Share plan is also gaining popularity with already 21 million post-paid subscribers.

The company introduced new mobile share value plans to boost sales and also add greater value to customers through more savings under no annual service contract options. Further, in Jan 2014, AT&T introduced a promotional offer of $100 credit for new and existing customers who add an additional smartphone, tablet, feature phone, mobile hotspot or Wireless Home Phone line. In Feb 2014, the company also slashed fee on its family plans bringing the cost down to $160 per month for unlimited talk and text and 10 GB data for a family of four.

AT&T currently has a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold).
