Tata Motors Limited’s (TTM) global sales, inclusive of Jaguar Land Rover, totaled 73,524 vehicles in Aug 2014. Cumulative global wholesales during the April–August period were 381,935 vehicles.
Global sales of all Tata Motors’ commercial vehicles and the Tata Daewoo range were 30,536 vehicles in August. Meanwhile, cumulative commercial vehicles sales for the April–August period grossed 149,321 vehicles.
Tata Motors’ global wholesales of all passenger vehicles in the month of August amounted to 42,988 units while cumulative sales from April to August were 232,614 units. Passenger vehicles wholesale of Tata Motors were 11,338 vehicles in August while April–August wholesales were 46,341 units.
Jaguar Land Rover recorded global sales of 31,650 vehicles in the month while April–August sales stood at 186,273 vehicles. Jaguar wholesales were 4,658 vehicles in August and wholesales during April–August were 31,650 units. Land Rover sales for the month totaled 26,992 vehicles and cumulative wholesales were 154,623 vehicles from April to August.
Earnings Review
Tata Motors posted earnings of Rs. 16.75 per ordinary share ($1.39 per American Depositary Share or ADS) for first-quarter fiscal 2015 ending Jun 30, 2014, up from Rs. 15.38 per share ($1.28 per ADS) in the year-ago quarter.
The company’s consolidated revenues in the quarter escalated 38.2% year over year to Rs. 646.83 billion ($10.75 billion). Strong demand for new products, higher volumes, enhanced product mix and better geographic mix at Jaguar Land Rover offset the negative impact of the weak operating and economic environment in the standalone business.
