Kohl’s Gears Up for Holiday Season; Launches Toy Brands

Kohl’s Corporation (KSS) seems to be getting ready for the holiday season as it is launching back-to-back brands in its stores and online. Recently, Kohl’s announced that it has stocked its stores with new and classic toys from national brands like Barbie, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Fisher-Price, Melissa & Doug, Nerf, Play-Doh, Playskool and more to attract customers during the holiday season. In addition to these national brands, Kohl’s offers many new trendy and creative toys including Cra-Z-Art Cra-Z-Knitz Knitting Station, MiP Stunt Robot, and Zoomer Dino in order to keep pace with changing kids preference for imaginative toys. Retail giant Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. (WMT) also recently revealed that kids are looking for toys that enhance their creativity.

Kohl’s has always focused on introducing new brands in order to keep the inventory assortment fresh and drive customer traffic to its stores and website. It launched the much-awaited and Los Angeles-inspired lifestyle brand Juicy Couture in its stores and on its website recently. In addition, very recently, it partnered with Awesomeness TV to launch S.o. R.a.d., a seven capsule limited-edition junior fashion line and Life’s S.o. R.a.d., an original four-season scripted series on YouTube. Awesomeness TV, a wholly owned subsidiary of DreamWorks Animation SKG Inc. In 2013, Kohl’s launched an assortment of over 20 new national beauty and fragrance brands in over 250 stores and online. In the recently reported first quarter of fiscal 2015, the company launched its first Jumping Beans collection featuring Disney characters. The collection was well received and even performed better than expected. The company has therefore planned to roll out more of the Disney portfolio throughout the rest of the year. In the third quarter of fiscal 2015, the company expects to launch IZOD branded menswear in Kohl's stores nationwide and on Kohls.com.
