Avago Technologies’ Syncro Solution: Lenovo’s New Choice

Zacks

Avago Technologies Limited (AVGO) announced that computer technology giant Lenovo has chosen to integrate its Syncro storage controller family into the latter’s latest ThinkServer systems for shared storage clustering.

In addition to shared storage clustering, the Syncro 9286-8e CS will enrich Lenovo systems by offering RAID (Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disk) protection. The Syncro storage will optimize the Lenovo RAID systems per the needs of Small and Medium Businesses (SMBs), offering a robust, easy-to-install storage clustering solution.

The operations of SMBs can be significantly disrupted by system failures, given that data is their most crucial link with customers. If a business loses access to its data, it can translate into lost revenue, reduced productivity not to speak of damaged customer relationships.

The Lenovo RAID system offers protection from data loss and system malfunctions. The Syncro solution, added to the RAID Systems capabilities, will result in improved data sharing and continuous application uptime. In addition to being cost effective, these solutions will empower the SMB market with uninterrupted productivity.

Syncro storage controllers reduce downtime while safeguarding data and its high performance comes with low complexity. With shared storage and high availability features, these storage controllers easily trump DAS only solutions.

Avago Technologies is a leading producer of a wide range of analog semiconductor devices. The chipmaker competes with the likes of Analog Devices, Inc. (ADI), Finisar Corp. (FNSR) and RF Micro Devices Inc. (RFMD).

In May, Avago acquired LSI Corporation in a bid to diversify its business line from wired infrastructure, wireless and industrial businesses toward the storage chip market. The strategic move was intended to enhance the top line and expand customer base, in the face of industry consolidation and challenging macroeconomic conditions.

Avago currently holds a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold).
