Texas Instruments (TXN) Launches Multiphase Vcore Solutions

Zacks

Texas Instruments (TXN) has unveiled an advanced digital multiphase core voltage (Vcore) power management system solution, consisting of TPS53661, TPS53641 and TPS53631 DC/DC controllers and CSD95372B and CSD95373B NexFET smart power stages.

The solution is designed for business servers, storage space and upper range desktop applications. It is available in volume from Texas Instruments and its certified distributors. The solution offers advanced transient performance, high telemetry precision and exceptional system dependability.

The controllers and power stages are compatible with Intel's (INTC) VR12.5 and VR12 voltage regulation specifications and are a superior solution to power the newest Intel Xeon processors.

The TPS53661, TPS53641 and TPS53631 controllers are integrated with TI's advanced D-CAP+ control architecture and are compatible with 6-, 4- and 3-phase operations, respectively. Moreover, they comprise the PMBus command set and come in an industry-benchmark small 5-mm by 5-mm package.

The D-CAP+ control architecture enables the controllers to offer swift transitory reaction and to eradicate beat frequency. These controllers are equipped with hybrid analog and digital topology, which help them offer power-efficiency, high performance and maximum flexibility.

The CSD95372B and CSD95373B NexFET smart power stages consist of an intelligent driver and power MOSFETs packed in solid 5-mm by 6-mm packages. They offer high power density with enhanced thermal performance.

The latest products will enhance Texas Instruments’ differentiated product pipeline, thereby boosting revenues. However, Texas Instruments operates in an intensely competitive industry and companies such as Broadcom (BRCM) and Analog Devices (ADI) can pose stiff competition.

Texas Instruments reported strong second-quarter earnings that grew 37.4% sequentially and 52.6% year over year. Revenues of $3.29 billion were down 10.4% sequentially but up 8% year over year.

Texas Instruments currently holds a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold).
