Kitco News kicks off this important economic data week talking to US Global’s Frank Holmes to get his input as to how the gold market will be impacted. “I’m expecting a lot of mixed signals,” he says. US markets are anticipating the release of Q2 GDP results, especially since last quarter results fell 2.9%. Likewise, investors are waiting to see Friday’s nonfarm payroll numbers to gauge the country’s employment situation. Holmes says it is also important to focus on China and India because the ‘love trade’ is what is really important for the yellow metal. Finally, Holmes talks briefly about Q2 mining results due for release this week and why he thinks interest rates are the most important factor for gold investors to keep an eye on.
