Celanese Adds Celstran Production Capability at Suzano Plant

Zacks

Celanese Corporation (CE) has announced that it will increase production capacity at its Suzano , Brazil plant to include the production of Celstran long-fiber reinforced thermoplastic (LFRT). The expansion is expected to be operational by mid-2015.

The new Celstran LFRT production is an addition to the already existing manufacturing facility in Suzano where Celanese makes acetal copolymer and thermoplastic polyesters for customers in Brazil and Latin America.

Healthy demand for automotive applications in Brazil and Latin America has led the company to add the Celstran manufacturing capability at Suzano. This will serve its customers and in turn benefit the company.

LFRT is a type of easily moldable thermoplastic used to create a variety of components that are employed in the automotive industry. Celanese LFRTs , including Celstran, Factor, and Compel, provide an unparallel combination of lightweight and toughness.

These products provide an exceptional value to customer in terms of metal replacement, weight reduction (resulting in lower carbon dioxide emissions), impact strength, surface appearance, design freedom and easy processing in key applications for different automotive, consumer, industrial and aerospace applications.

Celanese is set to become the first local producer to bring this new manufacturing capacity in Brazil. This will not only help it to serve its customers better but also meet the incremental volumes and high demand in that region.

Celanese posted better-than-expected first-quarter 2014 results on Apr 21. Both revenues and adjusted earnings for the quarter topped the Zacks Consensus Estimate.

Celanese currently holds a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold).
