Higginbotham Acquires Share of Willis of Texas, Inc.’s Operations

San Antonio, McAllen, Victoria and Tyler Insurance Brokerage Operations Join the Higginbotham Group

FORT WORTH, Texas, July 3, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — Higginbotham today announced the purchase of a portion of Willis of Texas, Inc.’s operations. Both are insurance brokers and service providers for commercial and personal coverage, risk management and employee benefits. The transaction includes Willis of Texas, Inc.’s operations in San Antonio, McAllen, Victoria and Tyler. Combined, they add 35 employees and one new geographic market to Higginbotham’s Texas footprint.

Higginbotham is the 32nd largest independent insurance broker by revenue in the U.S. and is headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas. With another 22 offices across the state and a workforce approaching 650, Higginbotham has become one of the largest regional insurance firms in the U.S.

The San Antonio and McAllen offices will continue being led by Managing Directors Drew Apperson and Ben Smith, respectively. The Victoria and Tyler groups will merge with Higginbotham’s residing offices.
