Pitney Bowes Enhances Big Data Platform

Zacks

Pitney Bowes Inc. (PBI) recently announced its decision to provide additional big data applications with its existing Spectrum Technology Platform. The integrated platform will now be able to provide its clients with advanced analytic solutions and master data management (MDM) with the aid of graphical presentations.

This platform is designed to enhance the customer experience by providing the firms with more detailed and specific insights from the data. While benefiting the customers, this will also lead to increased profitability for the company and will also reduce the risks.

The key features added to the platform are Visual Data Modeling, Process-centric Data Governance, Big Data Readiness, Enhanced Entity Resolution as well as Industry and Application Certifications.

Visual Data Modeling will improve the platform by providing a web-based user interface, including the knowledge graphs for modeling complex and dynamic data. Big Data Readiness and Process-centric Data Governance will equip the platform to process huge data and enable professionals to take appropriate business decisions based on the insights they get.

Traditional storage and analytic solutions are not competent to handle vast quantities of unstructured data due to the high velocity and real-time consumption pattern. This lacuna can be filled by Pitney Bowes’ platform, particularly by using the Enhanced Entity Resolution feature to process and consolidate data from various sources while maintaining authenticity.

The scope of knowledge that can be gained from the huge data is immense. This, in turn, can leverage a firm’s business significantly. The graph database technology incorporated in this platform will boost the business potential of firms. These graphs, by being multi-dimensional in nature, can cater to diverse business requirements while consuming less time.

The platform’s Industry and Application Certifications feature is included to support various data and analytics software providers including SAP AG (SAP) and NetSuite Inc. (N). The platform also has postal certifications for the Coding Accuracy Support System (CASS) in the U.S. and Software Evaluation and Recognition Program (SERP) in Canada.

At present, Pitney Bowes sports a Zack Rank #1 (Strong Buy). Another stock worth consideration is Hewlett-Packard Co. (HPQ), which is also developing platforms for the data and analytics industry. Hewlett-Packard carries a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy).
