The Dow Chemical Company (DOW), the official chemistry company of the Olympic games, is providing its innovative technologies at the ongoing Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Russia’s Black Sea resort. Dow is offering solutions in all competition venues of the Olympic Winter Games. The market reacted positively to the news and Dow’s shares rose as much as 2% during the trading session.

Moreover, Dow’s products and technologies will be present in the Coastal Cluster’s Olympic Park (the hockey, speed skating, figure skating and curling arenas, and the Olympic Stadium – stage of opening and closing ceremonies) as well as two of the five competition venues in the Mountain Cluster (sliding and ski jumping centers). The Bolshoy Ice Dome will utilize DOWCAL to create and maintain high-performance ice surface for the hockey players.

The Bolshoy centre will also include other products from Dow like WALOCEL products, an enhancing concrete mixture for the flooring, industrial coatings, which will provide durability and protection from corrosion for metal structural components, ENDURANCE family of semiconductive and insulation materials that will ensure reliability and long service life to power cables and SPECFLEX Polyurethane Systems that will contribute to aesthetics, comfort and durability of the seats for VIP guests.

The Sanki Sliding Center will utilize POLYOX Water-Soluble Resins from Dow and apply the dry-guniting method for the first time. Another venue will utilize PRIMAL Acrylic Resin (wood protection), epoxy resins (metal protection and floor coatings), ENDURANCE semiconductive and insulation materials (power cables).

Dow will also implement energy-efficient and low-carbon technologies in the major areas of infrastructure, industry and agriculture in order to mitigate the Organizing Committee’s direct footprint.
