Ford Motor Co. (F) is hiring 1,000 employees in the Kansas City Assembly Plant for the launch of Ford Transit. Ford Transit will be marketed in the U.S. from summer of 2014. The company will also be employing 175 additional employees by Mar 2014 for facilitating the production process.
The increase in workforce is in sync with the rising demand for Ford’s trucks and the launch production of Ford Transit van. This recent force recruitment is part of Ford’s strategy to increase the workforce to 2,000 in the plant. Among these 1,000 workers, the company had hired 300 employees in late 2013; the next 300 joined in the first week of Jan 2014 and the remaining will join this week.
Thus, Ford will be increasing the workforce in the plant by 35%, bringing the number to 4,600. The new recruits will start working in the plant from Mar 2014.
Transit is the best-selling medium commercial vehicle in Europe in the last 49 years. Transit is expected to replace the Ford E-Series, which is the best selling vehicle line in America over the last 35 years.
The new Transit offers customers power, durability and efficiency. It offers more cargo space, a range of roof heights, wheelbases and body lengths. Transit is a unique creation of Ford and is one of the 16 new North American products. Additionally, it occupies the 23rd position among global products.
Recently, Ford launched the new version of Ford F-150, which is believed to possess enhanced power, capability, efficiency and durability. The new Ford F-150 will be manufactured at Ford's Dearborn Truck Plant in Dearborn, MI, and Kansas City Assembly Plant in Claycomo, MO.
The new Ford F-150 has been manufactured in compliance with the One Ford plan, which focuses on producing vehicles that ensure quality, fuel efficiency, safety, smart design and value to customers. With this truck, Ford maintains its superior standard. The F-150 truck is made with high-strength aluminum alloys used in aerospace which reduces the weight of the vehicle by 700 pounds.
Ford is one of the largest automobile producers in the world along with General Motors Co. (GM), Toyota Motor Corp. (TM) and Honda Motor Co., Ltd. (HMC). However, safety recalls are detrimental to Ford’s brand image and growth prospects. Ford currently carries a Zacks Rank #5 (Strong Sell).
