The automotive refinish business of PPG Industries Inc. (PPG) has received clearance from Ford Motor Company (F) to use its advanced clearcoat products as warranty repairs on all Ford vehicles. Ford’s senior engineer Gerry Bonanni and PPG OEM’s (original equipment manufacturer) business development manager Kevin Loop jointly declared the approval.
Ford has agreed to use PPG’s clearcoats including DELTRON DC2000 Ultra Velocity Clearcoat, NEXA AUTOCOLOR P190-6800 HS Express Clearcoat and ENVIROBASE High Performance EC800 Ultra Fast 2.1 Clearcoat.
P190-6800 HS Express Clearcoat is a 2.1 VOC (volatile organic compound) air-dry compliant clearcoat that is designed for use with the AQUABASE Plus waterborne refinish system by PPG.
EC800 Ultra Fast 2.1 Clearcoat is also a 2.1 VOC air-dry clearcoat and is part of the Envirobase High Performance waterborne system by PPG. Delton DC2000 Ultra Velocity Clearcoat is a versatile clearcoat, suitable for use with Deltron DBC, GLOBAL REFINISH SYSTEM and Envirobase High Performance basecoats.
All three PPG clearcoats have met the demanding quality and performance standards set by Ford. These clearcoats have also undergone extensive testing not just in controlled laboratory environments but also in the real world prior to its final approval by Ford.
All these PPG clearcoats can dry quickly and they do not require flash time between coats or baking in a paint booth. They can be polished within half an hour, thus delivering remarkable gloss, appearance and durability of the vehicle. These clearcoats are also preferred due to its reduced cycle times, capability to improve productivity, and efficiency at reduced energy costs without sacrificing the final finish quality.
