DALLAS, Oct. 24, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Generational Equity, a leading mergers and acquisitions advisor for privately-held, middle-market businesses, is pleased to announce the controlling interest acquisition of three home shows from its client, Patrick Riha Productions headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri, by Marketplace Events, headquartered in Solon, Ohio. The transaction closed on August 19, 2013. Transaction value was not disclosed.

Since 1980, Pat Riha Productions has used creative management to help businesses promote their products and services to target markets through event productions. In the past, this has included concerts (public and private), multi-day events, grand openings, annual conventions across the United States and trade shows. Pat Riha Productions provides clients with turn-key productions, managing all aspects of events.

The Kansas City shows Marketplace Events, acquired from Pat Riha Productions are the Kansas City Remodeling Show, Metropolitan Lawn and Garden Show, and the Johnson County Home & Garden Show. Pat Riha and his wife Kate will consult on management of the shows through their runs in 2014.

The acquisition represents Marketplace’s entry to the Kansas City area, which CEO Tom Baugh says in a statement the company has been interested in expanding into. “These shows are an excellent growth platform,” Baugh says, “and we look forward to taking them to the next level.”
