Computer Science Corporation (CSC) has been chosen by the U.S. Navy for developing and upgrading its Space and Naval Warfare System Command (SPAWAR) Systems Center Atlantic. CSC is one of the 13 companies chosen for the $900 million cyber security contact. The one-year base period contract has four one-year renewal options.
Per the contract, selected companies will compete for the various assignments under the U.S. Navy’s C5ISR (command, control, communication, computers, combat systems, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance) operations contract.
CSC has a long-standing relationship with the Navy and continues to serve the U.S. Navy in several domains. The company has never found much difficulty in attracting government deals and was recently chosen by the Department of Homeland Security to provide cyber security solutions for government networks.
Apart from government orders, the company has won some big ticket private orders in the recent past. Additionally, CSC’s project pipeline remains strong and the company continues to invest in it.
Apart from this, CSC’s IT and management consulting services advise clients on acquisitions, IT security, strategy and business process re-engineering. The company also licenses sophisticated software systems for the financial services markets and provides a broad array of e-business solutions that cater to the needs of large commercial and government clients.
CSC is one of the leading players in the IT services industry in North America, Europe, Asia and Australia. Its service offerings include outsourcing, systems integration, IT and management consulting, and other professional services, including e-business solutions.
However, the market is becoming increasingly competitive with companies like CACI International Inc. (CACI), Accenture plc (ACN) and Syntel Inc. (SYNT) making their presence felt. Moreover, the macroeconomic conditions in Europe remain challenging. Delays in the government’s order renewal process could also add to its woes.
