Concentra, a subsidiary of Humana Inc. (HUM) recently launched its new Best-In-Class (BIC) Worksite program to enhance workers’ healthcare.

Through the new program, Concentra aims to expand the scope of healthcare provided to the American working population. The BIC Worksite program is a holistic approach that would improve employees’ immediate and long-term health through an increased access to coordinated care solutions, engaging both employees and employers in mutually benefiting health and well-being practices.

On the basis of a comprehensive research conducted in consultation with medical and industry analysts, Humana’s Concentra has recognized 12 critical elements that are requisites for an efficient workforce health program. The company’s latest Workforce Health and Well-Being system incorporates all these 12 elements to create a program that would efficiently form unison between a company’s workforce and their healthcare needs. The new program would take into account employer engagement, appropriate clinical capabilities, participant engagement, and measurable outcomes.

In recent times, there has been a remarkable increase in the healthcare needs of busy American workers. Catering to this issue has become both a necessity and a deterrent for employers, who see it as a vital but costly affair. The BIC Worksite program addresses this issue and is tailored to satisfy the healthcare requirements within an organization, without burning a hole in the employers’ pocket. Nevertheless, management maintains that this inexpensive healthcare program will not, at any cost, compromise on service and the quality of care.

Concentra, a leading healthcare company for nearly three decades, caters to more than 310 medical centers in 40 states in the U.S., and operates more than 260 worksite medical facilities. It was acquired by Humana in Dec 2010, and since then, has contributed positively to the operating results of the Health and Well Being Services segment of Humana,. We expect the introduction of this new program to help Concentra offer its services to a bigger population, and thereby strengthen its competitive position and enhance Humana’s top line further.

Humana currently carries a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold). However, health care service providers like Aetna Inc. (AET), UnitedHealth Group Incorporated (UNH), and Wellcare Health Plans Inc. (WCG) carry a favorable Zacks Rank #2 (Buy), and hence appear impressive.
