Ubiquiti Offers Two Access Points

Ubiquiti Networks, Inc. (UBNT) recently unveiled two of its UniFi enterprise Wi-Fi access points – UniFi Outdoor AC and UniFi Outdoor+ – for outdoor use. The UniFi Outdoor AC will be used for 802.11 ac, which is commonly known as Wi-Fi; whereas, UniFi Outdoor+ uses the Multi-Lane RF technology, especially used in dense environments.

These products target markets like large enterprises, universities, municipalities and event organizers among others, as they provide them an affordable Wi-Fi outdoor access points.

UniFi Outdoor AC, currently priced at $489, delivers three times the data transfer speeds of the current protocol with improved network robustness and reliability. UniFi Outdoor+ is more useful in dense environments such as stadiums, public spaces and conference centers to name a few. This access point is currently priced at $189.

With the increased usage of high bandwidth applications such as video, audio, cloud-based applications, online gaming and social applications, the Internet traffic is expected to grow further in the coming quarters. According to Cisco Visual Networking Index, global Internet Protocol traffic is expected to increase from 30,734 petabytes (PB) per month in 2011 to 110,282 PB per month in 2016.

Headquartered in San Jose, Ubiquiti is a communications technology provider. The company is engaged in designing, manufacturing and selling broadband wireless solutions. Over 10 million units of Ubiquiti’s products are currently deployed in roughly 180 countries. The company recently shipped its one millionth access point in less than two years. The technologically advanced products supplied by this company are expected to complement the increasing usage of internet and in turn increase Ubiquiti’s market share.

Ubiquiti currently carries a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy). Other stocks worth a look in the wireless equipment industry include Cellcom Israel Ltd.
