Agilent Technologies Inc (A) recently expanded into the high-power category with the launch of two power-supply families for ATE applications: the Advanced Power Supply (APS) family and the N8900 Series.
The APS Series helps in enhancing the speed and accuracy of ATE development, thereby reducing time and costs.
The N8900 Series stretches Agilent’s basic power supplies to a much higher power range and that too at a reasonable price. These are the only models with DC power supplies in the high-power range. These include autoranging output capability, which generates higher voltage and current combinations in contrast to a rectangular output power supply, which generates a single combination.
Agilent Technologies is a broad-based OEM of test and measurement equipment. In the last few years, Agilent has been increasing focus on the life sciences, genomics, diagnostics and wireless test markets, where the company has made a few important acquisitions. Agilent recently entered into an agreement with ABC Instrumentacion Analytica to acquire its assets. This acquisition is expected to be complete by October.
Agilent reported third quarter revenue of 1.65 billion, down 4.1% year over year. The lion’s share of revenue came from the Asia/Pacific, which contributed 39%, followed by the Americas, which provided 35% and then Europe, which accounted for the balance.
Though all three regions declined from last quarter, the decline was greatest in the Americas (down 5.6%), followed by Asia/Pacific (down 4.9%) and Europe, which declined 2.8%. The Americas dropped 14.3% year over year, Asia/Pacific remained flattish while Europe was up 6%.
