Sonoco ThermoSafe, a unit of Sonoco Products Co. (SON), has launched the Aeris Series of pre-qualified shippers to ensure protection for pharmaceuticals and other high-value biologics. The new series is specially designed to deal with the upcoming European GDP (good distribution practice) regulations.
The quality and the integrity of medicinal products can be affected by the lack of adequate control over numerous hazards during transportation. So European GDP will imminently provide strict regulations.
Sonoco ThermoSafe’s relentless focus on regulatory compliance to storage temperature limits has resulted in this pre-qualified shipper series. Apart from controlling temperature for pharmaceuticals, biologics, vaccines and other high-value products, the shipper series will meet strict European GDP regulations.
The new Aeris Series is also pre-qualified for the ISCsilver ambient Profile for at least two days at minimum cost. ISCsilver ambient profile is required to provide protection to packages under moderate or temperature-controlled distribution conditions. The new series will offer 2–8 degree Celsius temperature control to these products.
The Aeris Series of shippers will be manufactured at Sonoco ThermoSafe's facilities in Germany and Ireland, comprising four different sizes, varies from 2.5 to 24 liters. The shipper series having less weight will result in fast assembly and low cost for customers.
Sonoco, which belongs to the containers and packaging industry along with AptarGroup, Inc. (ATR) and Graphic Packaging Holding Company (GPK), has recently launched a Envoy Diagnostic insulated shipping solution to ensure temperature control for diagnostic kits, blood samples and other diagnostic specimens for up to two days during exposure to the ISCsilver ambient profile.
Based in South Carolina, Sonoco is a global provider of a variety of consumer packaging, industrial products, protective packaging and packaging supply chain services. Sonoco is also the largest producer of paper-based tubes and cores in North America.
