AT&T’s Community Central Bridges Gap

Zacks

AT&T Inc. (T) – the second-largest telecom operator in the U.S after Verizon Communication Inc. (VZ) – launched a new cloud-based app called AT&T Community Central. This app will bridge the gap between the local government and the citizens.

The new value-added service will help the local people and the government agencies to stay connected in emergencies. Moreover, it will provide complete details of the government departments like contact information, address details, office hours and the facility to call or email any official.

The Community Central application can easily be accessed through any smartphone or tablet. So, the new app will keep the government departments updated with city-related problems. It will also assist the government in resolving public issues.

AT&T Community Central app also features user-friendly interface, which reminds users of major public events. It also guides locals by providing maps and directions and information on city parks and recreational centers.

AT&T is continuously extending its community related service. A few days back the company installed solar chargers near parks in New York and expects to deploy more such chargers and public Wi-Fi service.

Hence, we believe that the continuous rollout of such value-added services will not only help AT&T lower its subscriber churn but will also allow the company to strengthen its position against large telecom players like Sprint Nextel Corp. (S) and T-Mobile US, Inc. (TMUS) .

Currently, AT&T Inc. has a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold).
