New Low-Power Amplifier by Microchip

Zacks

In order to extend battery life, Microchip Technology Inc. (MCHP) recently announced a new nine-member low-power, general-purpose operational amplifier (op amp) family — the MCP647X/8X/9X.

These op amps provide low leakage current over temperature, up to 125°C, which helps in reducing errors in sensor conditioning. Additionally they have low input offset voltage in space-saving SC70 and SOT-23 packages and are well suited for the consumer, industrial, automotive and medical markets.

This new op amp family consumes less power and is very effective for battery-powered devices which have to maintain accuracy of the signal chains at reduced costs. These amplifiers are perfect for devices that have sensors with high output impedance or for ones that go through accelerated life tests at high temperatures.

Striking features such as quality, performance, reliability, ease of use, pricing and diversity of products make Microchip one of the better-positioned companies in the semiconductor universe. This new op amp family promises better performance at all operating voltages and provides the best power consumption for a particular gain-bandwidth product, thereby strengthening Microchip’s position in the amplifier market.

Microchip develops and manufacturers microcontrollers, memory and analog and interface products for embedded-control systems, which are small, low-power computers designed to perform specific tasks. In the last reported quarter, Microchip generated net revenue of $430.1 million, up 26.9% year over year.

Microchip currently has a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy). Other stocks that look promising and are worth considering in the industry now are MagnaChip Semiconductor Corporation (MX), MaxLinear, Inc. (MXL) and RDA Microelectronics, Inc. (RDA), each carrying a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy).
