Air Products and Chemicals Inc. (APD) has introduced its advanced consumer-friendly retail hydrogen fuel dispenser. The product is readily available to address consumer expectations of refilling hydrogen-powered fuel cell vehicles in a safe, fast, reliable, and familiar manner.
Air Products’ hydrogen dispenser is the first fully-integrated retail hydrogen dispenser that reflects traditional consumer gasoline fueling and payment practices. The hydrogen fuel dispensing equipment possesses all the capabilities of a retail gasoline dispenser.
Air Products also works with a leading manufacturer of fuel dispensing equipment, Bennett Pump Company, which has an extensive background in engineering and manufacturing consumer and retail fuel dispensing products. The advanced hydrogen fuel dispenser combines the expertise of both these companies and will be incorporated into 10 new fueling stations to be built by Air Products in California beginning this year.
The hydrogen fuel dispensing equipment, based partially on Bennett's Pacific Series product, includes Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE)-certified dispensing components, proprietary hydrogen fueling protocols as well as the ability to meet SAE's "J2601" fueling requirements.
The Dispenser is consumer friendly with the latest Hydrogen Vehicle Authorization System to provide identification of the type of vehicle being fueled at the dispenser, and also exceeds applicable safety code requirements in many areas.
Air Products is the leading global supplier of hydrogen to refineries and is involved in over 150 hydrogen fueling projects in the U.S. and 20 countries globally.
