New Reference Design by Fairchild

Zacks

Fairchild Semiconductor (FCS) recently announced that it’s Global Power Resource Center (GPRC) has developed an innovative reference design for Brushless DC (BLDC) motor controller applications to facilitate designers to simplify designs along with reducing costs related to Bill of Material (BOM).

This new reference design by Fairchild addresses the growing concern of R&D designers and facilitates these designers to align their local industries from traditional AC designs to BLDC electric motors.

The reference design supports FCM8531 3-phase PMSM/BLDC controller, the FSB50550A smart power module, the FAN6961 Boundary Mode PFC Controller, and the FSL306LRN Green Mode Fairchild Buck Switch to optimize the printed circuit board’s (PCB) layout and help design engineers to quickly apply a motor drive design and access its results. The reference design also incorporates Power Factor Correction (PFC) block which improves the efficiency of power transmission and also acts as a voltage pre-regulator.

This energy-saving design by Fairchild meets all the circuitry requirements for successfully running a motor and can be easily operated at an “optimal time-to -market” for its customers.

Fairchild is a California-based company that designs, develops, manufactures and markets highly efficient semiconductors for multiple end market uses across the globe. Fairchild operates under three segments and its components are used in computers, telecommunications, automotive, consumer and industrial applications.

Fairchild currently carries a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold). Other stocks in the semi-conductor industry worth mentioning are Microchip Technology Inc. (MCHP) with a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy), MagnaChip Semiconductor Corporation (MX) and On Semicon Corp (ONNN ), each with a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy).
