An affiliate of United Continental Holdings Inc. (UAL) – United Airlines – has started offering 180-degree flat-bed seats and a personal on-demand entertainment system to passengers flying in the premium cabins of the long-route international flights from the airports of New York city.
With a command over New York's three major airports – Newark Liberty, Kennedy and LaGuardia – United has over 450 flights taking off daily to more than 150 cities around the globe. Most of the aircraft flying from these cities offer the facility of lie-flat seats and extra-legroom in the economy space. The company’s 182 aircraft operating internationally have been retrofitted with all-new United Global First and United BusinessFirst cabins.
Apart from these enhancements, United is focused on upgrading its transcontinental Premium Service aircraft operating between John F. Kennedy International Airport to San Francisco and Los Angeles. The company will revamp The Boeing Company’s (BA) 757 aircraft with all the aforesaid facilities plus wi-fi connectivity. The upgrades are expected to be completed by the end of 2013.
We appreciate the company’s constant endeavors to uplift its products and services both in air and on ground. In this regard, United intends to invest $150 million to refurbish its Terminal C check-in facilities at Newark Liberty via the installation of new flight-information display, advanced checked-baggage screening system and maintenance shed for widebody jets. For the convenience of customers, United also introduced online booking and travel scheduling via mobile devices.
United Continental, which operates with the likes of Delta Air Lines (DAL) and Southwest Airlines Co. (LUV), currently retains a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold) rating.
