Exar Corporation (EXAR), a leading supplier of mixed-signal components, recently introduced a new product titled XRP6670 for electromagnetically compatible space sensitive applications and electromagnetic interference (EMI) compliance.

The new product is an extension of Exar’s product family of low voltage, step down regulators. The operating frequency of XRP6670 is programmable between 300 kHz and 2.5 MHz via a single resistor. This enables power design engineers to have increased flexibility to optimize component values, size and performance, thereby accurately managing EMI and EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility).

XRP6670 can supply current up to 3Amps and operates in the voltage range of 2.6V and 5.5V. Its optimum size and condensed component form is most appropriate for space sensitive applications and is most suitable for industrial, medical, audio and video equipment. Additionally, XRP6670 has certain in-built features which ensures the safety of the product under abnormal operating conditions, such as over-current, short-circuits and over-temperature.

The new product is available in standard 3mm x 3mm size, which are even RoHS (Restriction of Use of Hazardous Substances) compliant and Halogen Free.

Exar designs and manufactures analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits for communication, video and imaging products. Connectivity and power management is one of the four product portfolios of Exar. The other product portfolios are communications products, network security and storage optimization solutions.

Exar currently carries a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold). Some other stocks within the industry worth mentioning include Integrated Device Technology, Inc. (IDTI), OmniVision Technologies, Inc. (OVTI), each carrying a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy) and FormFactor Inc. (FORM), which has a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy).
