Myrtle Beach Group to Launch Tourism News Service

PR Newswire

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C., May 2, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Recognizing a need for positive and pertinent news of the Myrtle Beach area, a group of Myrtle Beach investors purchased MyrtleBeachSC.com from Broadway Technology Inc. for an undisclosed amount.

The first-of-its-kind news service is expected to go live in early February 2014 with hard news items that will report relevant and important news of the area’s businesses, restaurants, hotels and attractions. Tourists will be afforded first-hand news accounts as well as up-to-date information on worthwhile issues.

The company’s news division will generate stories from Myrtle Beach news sources for accurate and timely reporting. The MyrtleBeachSC.com site will offer quick-and-easy access to essential information on the Myrtle Beach area. As a part of the organization’s ongoing efforts to enhance the quality and availability of information to members of the tourism community, the company will strive to be a credible and useful tourism news source for the more than 14 million tourists who visit Myrtle Beach annually.

“We feel that today’s messages in the market are largely negative. We are not so much to the left or right of any issue but rather concerned if it is a positive or negative message,” says David Hucks, spokesperson for the investment group. “We believe that this news service is an opportunity to get positive messages about what’s going on in the Myrtle Beach marketplace.”

Adhering to the principles of fairness in journalism, “we promise, however to deliver the news honestly, openly and transparently,” adds Hucks.

After more than a three-year development process, the new service will be supported through a variety of partnerships that the group is hoping to leverage. These partnerships include:

MyrtleBeachSouthCarolina.com, LLC, a graphical information site with geo-location listings of all area Myrtle Beach companies and organizations which is scheduled to launch in June 2013;

Myrtle-Beach.com, a tourist-sharing Web site since 2005; and

Myrtle Beach Hotels, a Web-based, campaign-driven, marketing Web site.

“We do hope to work with Myrtle Beach Hotels and look forward to keeping tourists informed from a local perspective on each area hotel product,” says Hucks.

Myrtle Beach Hotels is a limited liability corporation operating in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
