SPIE Announces the Signing for the Acquisition of Plexal Group

A Perth-based oil & gas engineering services provider enhancing SPIE Oil & Gas Services operations in Asia Pacific

SPIE, the European leader in electrical and mechanical engineering and HVAC services, energy and communication systems, today announces the acquisition of Plexal to further grow its global business SPIE Oil & Gas Services, develop its engineering offering and expand its presence in Asia Pacific.

Plexal is a specialist engineering firm with comprehensive knowledge across Upstream Oil & Gas, LNG (liquefied natural gas), Gas Transmission, CSG (coal seam gas), Water Utilities and Power Generation. Since 2002, the company has helped tens of first-class O&G clients such as Chevron, Woodside, Santos and Vermilion, in successfully implementing their Brownfield projects thanks to its proprietary efficiency tools (Plexsys, Plexispec and Pleximus) and a large scope of services: assessments, conceptual, front-end and detailed design, procurement, system development and testing, construction management, commissioning, training, etc. Headquartered in Perth, Western Australia, with operations in Queensland, Thailand and Bangladesh, Plexal employs 170 people and achieved turnover of AUD 23M in 2011/12 (about €18,5M).
